Creative writing
SUPERHEROES ARE WRITTEN INTO ATHLETICS
A Creative writing competition open for all school pupils aged between 10-15 years old to celebrate the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019.
What you need to know?
With athletes from over 200 different countries heading to Qatar, we want children to learn about new cultures and show this through creative writing, drawing on comparisons of superheroes and athletes- the theme which is running through communications in the build-up to the tournament.
In no more than 300 words, the Local Organising Committee wants to see the IAAF World Athletics Championships comes to life through the eyes of children in Qatar, drawing on the speed of light of sprinters, or the super strength of a shot-put thrower. The brief is open to allow for creativity whether it’s a short story, a poem or even a letter to an athlete expressing admiration for them.
Winning entries will be shared on social media channels by the Championships along with ticket prizes for the competition.
What are the guidelines?
All entries must be submitted via a hard copy, with the writing piece no longer than 300 words. Each entry must include the pupil’s full name, school name and age.
Competition submission and deadline
We kindly ask all schools to collect all entries before they’re sent to the Local Organising Committee, which will be collected by June 25th, 2019.
All winning entries will be contacted early September 2019
Good luck to everybody taking part!
