Schools Programme

A competition open for all school pupils aged between 16-18 years old to celebrate the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, by being part of the tournament.

What you need to know

With athletes from over 200 different countries heading to Qatar, we want young people to learn about the tournament and play their part, offering first-hand experience with media experience on the ground. From coverage reports to athlete interviews and videography skills or photography, there is a role to play in the biggest ever sporting event to be held in the Middle East.

Opportunities are available across the media requirements and we ask pupils to create a preview piece to the World Athletics Championships and what it means to them.

What are the guidelines?

Any written entries of coverage previews or suggested athlete interviews should be no longer than 400 words (hard copies), whilst any video pieces should be within two minutes. For any photography entries, we ask for a portfolio of no more than 10 images, which tell a compelling story and show all aspects of the Championships in Doha. Video pieces and photography can be shared digitally.

Competition submission and deadline

We kindly ask all schools to collect all entries before they’re sent to the Local Organising Committee, which will be collected by September 5th, 2019.

All winning entries will be contacted by mid-September 2019.

Good luck to everybody taking part!
